FBR Orders Customs to Destroy All Blacklisted Telephones

The Federal Board of Income (FBR), on Thursday, directed Collectors of Customs to destroy all cell phones which aren’t licensed/whitelisted by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) as these can’t be auctioned in any case.

The FBR has issued Customs Normal Order 7 of 2018 to destroy the cell phones which aren’t whitelisted in System Identification Registration Blocking System (DIRBS).

In accordance with the directions issued by the FBR to the Mannequin Customs Collectorates (MCCs), the sector formations shall study the confiscated/seized cell units (new/used) ripe for disposal to compile the data within the format prescribed under:

  • The aforesaid info each in onerous/comfortable copy shall be forwarded to the Director (Kind Approval) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Headquarters, F-5, Islamabad for technical analysis/certification and their white-listing in System Identification Registration Blocking System (DIRBS).
  • The comfortable copy shall be composed within the type of Excel Sheet with every row containing one IMEI solely and can be emailed at [email protected] by way of official e mail IDs of the sector formations;
  • The PTA will then certify to cell units which might be white-listed within the DIRBS. Thereafter, the sector formations shall dispose the cell units by way of open public sale following the prescribed process.

The cell units which aren’t licensed/whitelisted by PTA shall be processed for disposal by way of destruction within the method accepted by the Collector/Director in accordance with the regulatory necessities notified beneath another legislation in drive, as per FBR.
